"Die Kleptomanin & Co"

Margarethe Pape - soprano, Frank Asmis - grand piano

With the album "Die Kleptomanin & Co", the versatile soprano Margarethe Pape presents a compilation that has never before been on the market. The considerable spectrum ranges from tangible Hollaender songs to classical operetta from soup to Offenbach to Strauss to operas from different eras such as Frau Diavolo by Auber and Mahagonny by Weill. Together with the talented pianist Frank Asmis, who is experienced in numerous disciplines, including entertaining music, and who has his own acting skills, she is able to prove the contrastlessness of the voice, which is performed confidently in all registers. Under the direction of well-known sound engineer Lothar Mankewitz, it has also been possible to transport something of the live atmosphere of this ambitious and cheerful cooperation, a work that, in the best sense of the word, provides exciting entertainment for the timeless.

Frank Asmis, the pianist was born in 1971 in Berlin-Pankow and was already interested in children's music. U. a. He learned the organ playing and completed a vocal training. Frank Asmis studied from 1995 at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" and accompanied there u. a. the masterclass of the opera singer Julia Varady-Fischer-Dieskau as well as regular performances of the program "directing" such as: "Ariadne auf Naxos" / Richard Strauss and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Benjamin Britten. Frank Asmis has participated in numerous theater productions as accompanist and pianist, such as "Zille sein Milljöh", "Don Giovanni" by Sandra Leupold for the Kulturbrauerei and the opera collage "W (arten) A (uf) Mozart "for the Akademie der Künste u.v.a. A passion of Frank Asmis is that Cabaret entertainment and the singing of cheeky chansons and hits of the 20s and 30s Years with own piano accompaniment. Margarethe Pape shares, though primarily classical singer, the passion for this Music genre with Frank Asmis. Your first collaboration was however of a purely classical kind: the Mozart concert in the context of the "Fête de la musique" event in the KSG "Edith Stein", Berlin, on the occasion of the Mozart anniversary 2006.
